The story of a photographer

I grew up on a farm in the Boland area but have lived all around South Africa, with one of my favourite destinations being the desert.

I've always been a true creative at heart, so I went off to study Photography & Graphic design in Stellenbosch & whoop, the Photography part blew my mind. We focused a lot on the analogue process, & this nurtured my love & understanding of the technical aspects & conceptual value of Photography — understanding your equipment, your subject, the environment & how you want to convey this to the world uniquely. The way light works absolutely amazes me; it never seems to disappoint.

After my studies, I worked in production & assisted well-respected photographers, soaking up all the knowledge & experience I could. When the time was right, I started my own business, my main focus being weddings (but also shooting for every occasion presented to me).

After I got married, an opportunity arose, & we decided to make a big move to Namibia, living off the grid for 8 years. This environment & way of life added to my creative journey & outlook, sparking my love for beautiful landscapes, the spectacular natural African light & capturing special moments. But a new adventure called us back to South Africa, & now our family is based in a little gem of a town called Tulbagh.

I love the outdoors & appreciate the intimate interactions between humans and animals. Photos represent special moments frozen in time, creating memories that will last a lifetime & and this is a fantastic thing to be a part of.

I have 16 years of experience, & my work covers a wide range of photography genres, both locally & internationally.

I really enjoy & commit to spending time with my subjects, & in return, I present them with something that can distil a memory for them (their children & their grandchildren) forever.
